PS3 built for the long haul, Xbox 360 not? History to repeat itself ala PS1 Vs N64?

Lucas DeWoody of AMN argues that Sony knows for sure that its expensive gamble that is the PS3 will eventually pay off. He claims that the industry is not really throwing out anything new at the moment which will mean that this next-gen lifecyle will lost a very long time. DeWoody argues that while the PS3 has been built for the future, the Xbox 360 is a replica of the original Xbox, improved last gen graphics with a great online service which is limited to a core niche demographic. He also points to the lack of high definition media support (natively) as a reason for its limited lifecycle. Just as the PS1 received its killer app in the form of Final Fantasy which led to it rapidly overtaking the N64, DeWoody believes history will repeat itself and the PS3 will run away with things in the end.
