The Digitimes yesterday reported that Lite-On IT is developing built-in Blu-ray Disc-(BD) ROM drives for the Microsoft Xbox 360. Today they are reporting that the BD-ROM drives will cost MS US$95-100, much higher than the the US$18-20 quoted for the current Xbox 360 DVD-ROM drives. They say that even if MS increase the price of new Blu-ray consoles it won\’t cover the cost of the new drive, meaning that they would have to sell the console at a loss.
